Testing my waters.....

This is a first look at the "Following the Masters" challenge. I chose John Singer Sergeant. I'm not a huge fan of doing landscapes. But it is a fun way to challenge myself as I am getting back into painting. There are some obvious changes that I'll be making. Is nice to take a picture of it and put it on the computer. I always find what is missing or needs to be fixed this way.

Here is a 20min. sketch from a LIFE photo. It's not a finished product or anything.... just a fun way to get my pencil moving....

I found a aqua watercolor brush at Michaels and a constant wet aqua-brush at Hobby Lobby. I'm so excited to try them out! I enjoyed the last Following the Masters challenge in watercolor. Maybe this will be my media of choice for awhile..... who knows....

From Krafty Kaye to the Sketchy side of things....

I've created this extra blog as a way to separate my sketchy artist side and my Krafty Kaye Kreative side. I feel my other blog is geared more towards women and our ways of "nesting" our homes and other great things we women have in common. This blog is the other side of crafting. I don't know if there is a fine line between that or not....but...

I hope to metamorphose into a great artist like the many others I find in this blog world. I have been drawing since I was little. I became very interested in drawing when I was 8 years old. I taught myself (along with some Walter Foster Books) to draw portraits. I stuck to that until High school and learned a bit more. After graduating I flitted from state to state following the love of my life. I took one college class of drawing, had two boys, in between only sketching once in a great while. Now that they are growing I am finding my creative outlet and I'm enjoying every minute of it. Finding wonderful challenges and so many blogs FILLED with talent!!!!!!
I hope you enjoy the things I find that inspire me to grow as a person interested in making art that will be added to each post.
