Florence, Italy

My entry into "The Virtual Paintout"
I enjoyed working with watercolor for this project. Perspective isn't my favorite but this was fun. This is where I dropped the little google guy into Florence, Italy. (I looked all around for several days and finally found this street that caught me)Watercolor, original is 8.5 x 5.5

Wreck This Journal

Like I said, I would be late. Here's what I did last week. I enjoyed a relaxing Gulf Shores vacation at Fort Morgan and I gathered shells and seaweed, see below...... Seaweed and tiny flowers added last week

I did a 5 minute document of my time passing in the car along the way to my vacation destination. Each minute I wrote down what was going on. It's funny to read now.

I tried infusing my lemon thyme. As the stem dried the lemon smell is gone. I tried reeeeally rubbing the leaves into the paper but the lemon smell didn't stay. Oh well, I'll try with something else!

The beginning of filling the circles page.

I thought I would get to do more, but I spent a lot of time on the beach and I did some sketching. So this week I will get to do more now that I'm home and back into the swing of my routine again....

I had fun this week! I did find it a little more slow going. I was all hopped up and wrecking away, this week I took it easy. Didn't want to get carried away, I think part of it is that I am taking my book to wreck at the beach! (wanna save some pages just to wreck and collect there!)
Simple enough and I kept it simple

Still looking for the four-leaf clover

This was the one that stumped me.... Maybe next week, or a few days I'll get it.... or not! heee!

1.
2. Not bad for left handing it.... (My son's lego plane!)
I don't think this is gonna do it.... I have to think of a different way to wear the journal!

OK- until next week! Which I'll be late since I'll be swimming in the Gulf Of Mexico next Friday!!

Good luck to all my other "wreckers"!!!!!

Following the Masters- challenge: complete

I have completed the "Following the Masters" Challenge!
I chose John Singer Sargent as I love his portraits and paintings. I used acrylic on a canvas panel and I really like acrylics but I found this particular landscape a bit blah. I did pick a bit of an "easy" landscape as I haven't painted a landscape like this in 10 years. I also found that I'm not such a huge fan of canvas panel. It felt almost TOO bumpy. So maybe I need to step it up a bit next time and challenge myself a bit more.
As for now I'm enjoying the prismacolor pencils and pastel pencils. I'm like a kid (artist) in a candy store (art store).... I've discovered that United Art and Education store has a lot of unique items that Michaels and Hobby Lobby does not carry. I bought some masonite so I'm very excited to try that. I love re-discovering the ar-teest in me! Can't wait to find out this next challenge from Following the Masters and DSDF.

DSDF Challenge -complete

Here is my final and complete drawing from the DSDF Challenge. I reeeally enjoyed this one. I got to know my prismacolors and I'm working with that some more. I can't wait to see what the challenge is next!

Prismacolor pencils vs. Pastel pencils

This is a 5 minute sketch I tried with my new pastel pencils. I like that it's easier to erase than colored pencils. Has anyone tried the "Magic Black Eraser" on prisma color pencils or the "Magic White-Extra soft"? On White or Black paper? I like how prismacolors blend, but it doesnt take much for the pastels to blend either, and easy to change mistakes.

I'm off to get my stuff ready for my beach trip next week. I'm sooooo excited to get some new sketches done with a different scene.

Wreck This Journal- Week 2- The Results

OK! Week 2 of Wreck this Journal! And I am on my way!
At first I took it slow, then I started to feel exhilarated and fell in love with "Wrecking"!
I have to say I reeeeally didnt want to take this book in the shower with me, so I set it on top of the shower stall thinking maybe the humidity would do something minorly destructive to it and set to cleaning my shower. That's when it fell into the shower with the bottle of Comet (that is what's sprinkled across the front cover). Soooo it got in the shower....

Pocket lint- ew!
This above is what my friend did to destruct this page.....took it to the mulch bed and ground it in there. Little did she know...it gave an awesome circular pattern around the black circle with words! Kinda cool!

So I burned THAT page! First I burnt the corner, and my friend said, get it in the middle.... well, duh! paper and fire!!!!! So I had to take the results and put the fire out on the lawn... You can see the coffee that I splotched on the other page.

And a beginning of my collection of fruit stickers. Which won't take long to fill up since we love fruit here......

Don't stare to long at this pic! I got a little wobbly with the cam....oops sorry!
Off to wreck something! ha!

I drew this in my moleskine with graphite and a little charcoal.
The word from this Friday to the next is: Unfold
I think I have something in mind..... will see...

A Rose

Sketchy! Sketchy! Just another moleskine sketch. I just love the way moleskine is so smooth. Thinking of trying this same flower on Bristol smooth surrounded by other flowers.

This is just a 2B and a 5B that took 45minutes. Hope I get a chance to sketch today.

Here's to hoping your day is great!
